What this guide covers
Accounting (/app/accounting) centralizes financial configuration and operational payroll tools. Visible tabs depend on your role's accounting permission keys.
Accounting tabs

| Expense Categories | GL-style categories for bill and PO lines |
| Payment Sources | How vendor bills were paid (card, ACH, etc.) |
| Payroll Settings | Pay periods, overtime rules for payroll |
| Shift Log Settings | Clock-in/out rules, breaks, approvals |
| Project Time Settings | Project time categories, OT costing rules |
| Commissions Settings | Enable commissions and category rules |
| User Wages | Hourly/salary rates per member |
| Payroll / Shifts | Live shift log review and approval |
| Requests | Team away / time-off requests (when enabled) |

Use URL tabs for deep links, e.g. /app/accounting?tab=categories, ?tab=payroll, ?tab=users.
Business vs profile accounting scope
On the Overview tab (or Software tab), Accounting scope can be:
- Business-wide — one shared set of categories, tax rates, and classes
- Per business profile — separate lists per profile; members only see profiles they can access
Scope affects expense categories, tax rates, payment sources, and some bill/PO pickers throughout the app.
Permissions model
Accounting uses granular keys (examples):

Owner/Admin bypass all keys. Custom roles need explicit grants for each tab they should use.
